Aug 31, 2012 - Let’s Shop, Arizona!
It may only be famous for cacti and desert but Arizona is also a great place to…shop! Here, we review three choice places where you can literally shop til you drop!
Yes, it is an outlet store and not all of its stores are cheaper but it is a hit with the younger crowd and is easily accessible by public transport. Be prepared to stay for at least the whole day with its offering of 170 stores and restaurants including anchors Neiman Marcus, Marshall’s, JCPenney Outlet Store and more.
If you’re not into shopping, hit the IMAX theatres for a great cinematic experience, or Hanks Arizona Mills which offers 24 movie screens. Other non-shopping alternatives include Sea Life Arizona Mills, located at the north side of the mall.
Scottsdale Fashion Square
There are more than 40 exclusive retailers in Scottsdale Fashion Square that are not represented anywhere else in America. This does not include the other 200-odd stores available in the mall. Some of the stores you can find here are Nordstorm, Gucci, Gymboree, Oakley and more.
The mall is located near downtown Scottsdale and has a trolley that services some of the nearby hotels. Other non-shopping related landmarks here are the Enchanted Kingdom Play Area for toddlers and the two Harkins – Harkins Fashion Square and Harkins Camelview, the only theaters to screen foreign films in town.
Park West Mall
Park West Mall is an open air mall located in Peoria, Arizona. The mall features more than 50 specialty retailers including Victoria’s Secret, Fair Oaks Cigar and much more. The Sandbar Mexican Grill has an outdoor area to relax during happy hours.
You will need a car to travel to the mall but it’s nearby Westgate City Center and the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Located in north Tempe, near where Loops 101 and 202 intersect, Tempe Marketplace is the place to be whether you’re into shopping or not. There are more than 120 retailers, restaurants and entertainment centers available here ensuring that no-one gets bored while visiting.
Among the retailers located here are Target, Barnes & Noble, Petsmart, Divaz Boutique, Urban Angels and BevMo.
If you’re not into shopping, head towards ‘The District’ section of the mall where you can find Harkins movie theaters, free concerts and other exciting entertainment venues.
